Talk about tossing someone under the bus!

This Press Democrat story tells the tale of Cindy Sheehan and her effort to obtain some kind of closure of sorts from President Bush after the death of her son, Army Specialist Casey Sheehan in Iraq. She's been camped out at "Peace House" in Crawford, TX, just up the road from the President's ranch, for more than a year. Her protest and vigil has gathered huge publicity not only here in the US (where all you have to do is say something bad about the President or the War on Terrorism under your breath and you'll have news agencies throwing money at you for your story), but also internationally. That's not really much of a surprise, though, since news is news no matter where you go simply because dissent of any kind sells (unless it's against liberalism).

Anyway, as I'm listening to Lee Rogers and Melanie Morgan on KSFO 560kHz out of San Francisco I hear about this story which basically tells of the family of Specialist Casey Sheehan backing away from Cindy and, for lack of a better euphemism, throwing her under the bus. Read all about it! The story fails to mention that although Cindy was not satisfied about the meeting she and her family had with the President at Fort Lewis last year, the rest of her family accepted the explination and continued to support our efforts in the Middle East. It does, however, mention that Cindy thought the meeting was not satisfactory and she wants to speak to him privately, one on one. Somehow I doubt that will ever happen now simply because, as is accurately described in the story, "grief pimps" have blown this womans crusade against those who protect her out of proportion without taking into account the facts. Well isn't that special?
